Types of Jewish Jewelry

Jewish jewelry comes in many forms and shapes. From the ancient Hamsa hand to the majesty of the Jewish Menorah – Jewish jewelry is exquisitely unique in its purpose and design, and packed with religious significance. During 2,000 years of Diaspora, it was these unusual symbols that marked and distinguished Jewish families, which kept their ancient tradition alive.

Let’s start with the Jewish Menorah. It is the most important of the Jewish artifacts, as it has been for nearly 3 millennia. Thus, it is no surprise to learn the Menorah is the official emblem of the modern State of Israel. Artistically speaking, the Menorah is a 7-branched candelabrum, and this unusual geometry was handed down to Moses in a revelation of fire on Mt. Sinai. Several years later, this fiery design materialized in the form of several golden Menorahs, which stood as tall as man, and lit the inner chamber of the Temple.

Another well known Jewish artifact is the Mezuzah. The Mezuzah is a Hebrew parchment that can be found at the doorstep of any Jewish home. The Mezuzah is sealed inside a decorated case and then fixed to the right of the doorframe. Fixing a Mezuzah is believed to protect the house and its inhabitants. Its relatively small size enables the Mezuzah to be given as a personal gift to loved ones at housewarming gatherings.

Other types of Jewish symbols that fall under the title of Jewish jewelry include the Hamsa hand, the Star of David, and the Solomon Seal talisman. While precious in spiritual meaning, these Judaica gifts are also made of precious metals, such as real Sterling Silver, 24 Karat Gold, or Pewter.

A Hamsa is Arabic for “five”, and a Hamsa hand is simply this: A talisman in the shape of a five-fingered hand. It is meant to protect the wearer from the curse of the Evil Eye, which is essentially the force of jealousy on one hand and of pride on the other. Hamsa hands can be hung on the wall, wrapped in bracelets around the wrist and ankle, or placed on the chest via a necklace set.

Another popular Jewish artifact is the Star of David. This symbol, also known as a Hexagram, was the formal emblem of the House of David, who ruled the ancient Israelites for hundreds of years. The six-pointed Star is interpreted in Kabbalah teachings as the culmination point of Heaven and Earth. It is also featured in the official flag of the State of Israel.

Solomon was the son of King David, and legend tells of his majestic signet ring. The ring was the source of Solomon’s unnatural wisdom, and it allowed him to rule wisely for many decades. Kabbalah scholars have deciphered the mystical drawings found on Solomon’s ring, and nowadays it is possible to wear Solomon talismans that resemble the original inscriptions.

All in all, Jewish jewelry represents important historical events and Kabbalistic numbers. The five fingers of the Hamsa, the six points of the Star of David, and the seven candlesticks of the Menorah – They are all meant to remind Jewish believers of their faith and tradition. In other words, Jewish jewelry in the form of silver necklaces, charm bracelets, and unique talismans make a truly significant present. It is hope for the future, crafted in the historical shapes of wisdom.

Dropshipping Will not Make you Money on Ebay

If you are considering using dropshipping to supply your eBay auctions with products then this article might change your mind and send you in the right direction…

Dropshipping is terrible for eBay businesses!

What is dropshipping? Dropshipping is a method of buying-and-selling that requires very little money upfront and very little effort. In theory.

Here is how dropshipping works on eBay.

You look through a dropshipper’s catalog to find products you want to sell on eBay. Then, you post the products as auctions or buy it now listings on eBay. If the product sells, you collect the payment from the buyer and forward the order on to the dropshipper, using your eBay customer’s payment to fund the transaction. The dropshipper then send the product directly to your eBay customer.

The money you have left is your profit.

The profit is the difference in price between what you pay the dropshipper and what you sell the product for on eBay. So if your dropshipper sells the Nintendo Wii for $230 and you sell it on eBay for $250 have $20 in profit. However, to determine your actual profit you need to include and deduct your eBay fees, PayPal fees, etc. So your final profit is under $20 using the example given.

Why is dropshipping bad for my eBay business? Let me start by saying “bad” is an understatement. Dropshipping is not bad, it is deadly. Dropshipping makes no sense in the eBay marketplace… Just think about it!

Dropshipping is based on the concept that you can get just one of an item and pay near wholesale price. But if you just think about it, that doesn’t make any sense. If we look at how the wholesale industry works it will be obvious.

The wholesale industry works on quantity. Wholesale is all about bulk. When a huge company, such as Wal*Mart, places an order it is in huge quantity (to fill all of their stores). I’ll make you an example using dvd players…

Wal*Mart wants to order 5000 ZIP-ZAM DVD PLAYERS which retail for $105 each. Wal*Mart plans to sell them for a little under retail at $98 each. So, they contact their wholesale distributor who offers them a price of $86 each. Wal*Mart places the order and everyone is happy. But…

Using dropshipping you cannot expect to get that DVD player for anywhere near $86. The distributor offered Wal*Mart the $86 price because of the quantity they were agreeing to purchase. At the $86 price the distributor is only profiting $5 per DVD player. But that is ok. One sale of 5000 units to Wal*Mart is $25,000 in profit. But you want just one, and a $5 profit sale is not going to do.

The HTC Titan – A Look At The New Windows Smartphone From HTC

HTC has proudly announced the launch of the new HTC Titan, which is a stylish smartphone in the Windows Phone 7 series. With a mammoth screen that measure 4.7 inches from one end to the other, it is undoubtedly one of the largest smartphones available on the market today. Also, the name says it all, if you were in any doubts about the dimensions of this phone.

Its screen is truly huge. It is larger than the standard iPhone, larger than the HTC Sensation, and even larger than the popular Samsung S2. Being superbly bright and crisp, due to the convenience of Super-LCD technology, credit is also due to the WVGA resolution which classifies it among the top most screens yet seen on an HTC product currently in the market.

The wonderful effect produced literally creates an impression of Windows Phone 7 leaping right off its screen. Thus, reading emails is no longer only easy but a lot of fun as well; playing games is a colorful experience; and watching a movie most immersive.

After you manage to finally overcome the ‘wow’ factor, you will automatically start wondering ‘how to get this massive smartphone into your undersized pocket. In this regard, only being more imaginative will help.

With sizable measurements of 130.6mm height, 70.63mm width, and 9.9mm slimness, the HTC Titan is just a little bit larger in size than the Samsung Galaxy S II, which has an 8.5mm thickness in comparison.

HTC has purposefully designed this Titan smartphone to project just its big screen, rather than much else. Hence, dissimilar to the one you will find around the 5 inch screen of the Dell Streak, you will not find any bezel bulk here. And this does make a big difference. Besides, HTC has sensibly chosen to exclude the kickstand, which helps to cut out the addition bulk for the benefit of resolute users of big screen smartphones.

The device offers everything you would expect; from Wi-Fi internet browsing, 8 megapixel camera and a powerful 1.5 GHz processor. Working in harmony with the new version of the Windows Phone 7 OS (Mango) a great user experience is assured. This combination of features means that it is an effective device for work or play.

The HTC Titan is a great example of form and functionality combined to great effect. It is likely that this will be the phone of choice for numerous consumers who are seeking a phone with a large screen. It is now available on several UK networks, some of which are offering the handset for free when you sign up to one of its tariffs.

Evil Eye Pendant – The Superstition?

A scientific human mind is bound to question and verify the long held beliefs. It can’t be said that science has all the answers to the intriguing questions of the universe. The basic purpose of science is not always to find a solution but to search for an answer even if the solution is not easily obtainable. So, the concept, that the evil intentions of false well wishers emanates a negative energy and it affects us, is bound to come under scrutiny. It is obviously surprising to the scientific mind that how can the evil look of a person radiate some energy and it affects the targeted person.

The question

Energy has few defined forms and though there are still undiscovered forms but negative energy from the evil looks of person does not seem like a valid and logically coherent concept. Hence an Evil eye pendant meant for protection is similarly a questionable concept. A ‘superstition’ as people would term it.

Firstly, energy is a scalar quantity and that is a verified notion, verified with the forms of energy we already know. Hence terming the energy as a negative one sounds very vague. Either such an idea does not hold or otherwise we have to change our definition of energy. Experiments carried out with this aim found no such energy radiation from a person with evil intentions. The idea of negative is also relative. ‘Negative’ is terminology coined by humans in order to differentiate it from an opposite entity the one called positive. Hope this so-called negative energy has nothing to do with ‘Dark Matter’.

Furthermore how such an energy, if present, would affect a person is not clear. Energy basically flows from a higher potential to a lower one. What makes the targeted person or targeted object lower in potential we don’t know. Moreover such energy hampers the well-being for the targeted person. The well-being is too broad a term. This negative energy may affect anything form health to fortune. It is not exactly defined when or under what conditions what part of well-being will be affected. Hence the concept becomes nothing more but a superstition.

The evil eye pendant so designed for protection has an amalgamation of molten glass, iron, copper, water and salt. This composition is believed to give Evil Eye Bead its protective powers. But how or why such a composition provides protection against the ‘negative’ energy is not documented, even if it is then also very vaguely, in the religious scriptures in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. The blue colour and the symbol of the eye as amulets of protection in the Evil Eye pendant is also a concept sourced from the ritualistic religious ideas of Turkey and Greece.

Another question is why can’t a person have enough positive energy to counter the effect of the negative one. Then this amulet, the Evil eye pendant, will not be needed. The argument against this would be that may be some people have less positive energy and they need protection. The obvious question would be what produces this positive energy.

So, we see that the concepts seem more like the imagination of a section of the human society to satisfy their mystic needs. The Evil Eye Pendant along with being an amulet is also a symbol of the still lingering human superstition.
