Champions League Final Preview – Manchester United Vs Barcelona

On the 27 May, Manchester United will battle with Barcelona in the final of this season UEFA Champions League at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico. Both teams have the credential and fire power to become this season European Champion. Manchester United can become the first team in 19 years to retain the trophy they won last year. Ac Milan was the last team to win back-to-back European Champion Club’s Cup (the name for the previous version of UEFA Champions League) in 1989 and 1990.

Both teams will be missing key players in the final through suspension and injury. Barcelona will be without Eric Abidal and Daniel Alves. Abidal was red carded in the second-leg semifinal against Chelsea, while Alves received his third yellow cards of the tournament in London. Darren Fletcher of Manchester United will miss the final after collecting a red card for a foul on Cesc Fabregas in the second-leg semifinal against Arsenal.

Barcelona Rafael Marques is definitely rule out of the final due to injury on his left knee. However, Andreas Iniesta and Theiry Henry look set to miss out as well. Iniesta picked up a thigh injury in his side’s 3-3 draw at home to Villarreal. Henry is fighting to be fit after picking up a ligament injury in the game against Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola, Barcelona’s manager, faces some difficult selection choice in defence due to injury and suspension. Alex Ferguson has fewer headaches among the two managers as he has almost a full squad at his disposal. Daren Fletcher being the only set back but he has enough quality in his squad to replace Fletcher.

This game will also feature a battle between two of the best footballer in the world at the moment, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Messi has been the key factor for the rise of Barcelona this season. Ronaldo maintained his momentum from last season to help Manchester United in winning several trophies this season. But for this season, the ultimate prize which both really wants is the UEFA Champions League.

The Right Home Theater Design

A home theater is a great investment for people who are particular with the quality of their entertainment. There are many different home theater design choices which are dependent on the size of the room that one will be turning into a home theater. Other factors that may affect the home theater design are the preferences of the owner, the kind of entertainment system the owner has and the degree of entertaining the owner has in mind.

Size of the Room

The size of the room has an impact on the concept of the home theater room design. A small room greatly affects the kind of home theater design one may have in mind. The size of the room should correspond to the size of the television set one has. An overly large television set is not appropriate for a small room as this may affect viewing pleasure.

The distance between the television set of about 40 inches and the viewer should be a minimum of about ten feet. Any closer than that may mean trouble for the person’s eyes. With this limitation, the room should not be less than fifteen feet either side to comfortably accommodate a pleasant home theater design concept.

Location of the Television Set and Others

Where the television set is placed is also a crucial aspect of home theater design. The television set should not be located on the same wall as a nearby door. The opening and closing of the door, especially if this is a well used door, will disturb the viewers from their entertainment.

Emergency doors may be taken into consideration as long as these are not opened and closed when the home theater is in use. Windows should be closed or heavily curtained to discourage disturbing light and motion seen outside.

Speakers should also be set up in such a way that the sound provides a well rounded or surround sound. This helps to create a more realistic aspect of viewing wherein the sound seems to come from all around. Home theater design is important to achieve the best possible viewing and listening experience.

There should also be at least a six way speaker system or more for best viewing and listening. For a small room, it is relatively easy to place the speakers in such a way that there is surround sound. Most home entertainment systems provide appropriate quality with regards to their speakers.

The Need for Financial Translation

The primary obstacle you need to hurdle is of course the language barrier. The Chief Financial Officer, financial controller, or your closest counterpart in the home office is likely going to be speaking in a different language. This is where financial translation becomes a critical service for you.

Scope of financial translation

The necessity runs both ways. Just as you need to send required financial documents to the home office, they are going to be distributing documents like internal policy papers, regulations, guidelines and other critical communications to their regional bases. The kinds of documents the financial translation service will need to render are numerous and varied:

Business plans
Annual reports
Financial statements
Sales projections
Audit reports
Shareholder communications
Public offering prospectuses
Fact sheets

Aside from these there are the regulatory requirements.

Your regional unit needs to comply with your country’s trade and commercial laws. The same goes for the home office. But what you need to submit to them must also follow their audit standards. The financial translation service you are going to need must not only be proficient in the central task of translation but must also be competently familiar with such standards.

Terminology gap

The foreign multinational must of course standardize its business processes. The problem however is that financial principles, concepts and practices are often different for each country. Financial translation can serve as the bridge that will help you cross this gap easier.

In more technical or scientific fields, terms and their objective references are more sturdily fashioned to each other. A pair of mutually-foreign computer technicians won’t likely have too many language barrier problems when they talk about microprocessors. But two foreign certified public accountants may not come to an understanding about reserve and write-off policies as each one’s country may have different laws regarding this issue. They may not even use the same semantically equivalent terms. This doesn’t necessarily make financial translation more difficult that technical translation. It just makes it relatively less precise and more open to interpretation.

Here is another example of the terminology gap that financial translation needs to handle. In Brazilian Portuguese there is a big difference between ‘sociedade’ and ‘companhia’. The former is the loosely used term more or less equivalent to the English ‘company’ while the latter, despite sounding closer to the English word, actually refers specifically to public limited companies or joint-stock companies (if rendered in American English).

This is the reason why professional and well organized financial translation service providers carry out their work in a repetitive process. Output from primary translators is often passed on to secondary translators for proof-reading and revision. This increases accuracy or at least coherence in cases where there is absolutely no equivalent in the target language. Financial translators also closely coordinate their work with their clients to guarantee that no misinterpretations of exclusively or internally used terms.

The good news is that efforts are also being made to standardize accounting standards. There are international standards like the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) that are working to promote universally acceptable guidelines such as the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Such initiatives can certainly make financial translation a smoother process.

UEFA Champions League ? Chelsea wins 4-1 over MSK Zilina

Chelsea FC, the English Premiere League defending champions, began its UEFA 2010-2011 Champions League participation with a 4-1 win over the Slovak team MSK Zilina.

Chelsea proved that its team was out to no good, taking the possession of the ball from the beginning of the game and putting up a very tactical game plan. Chelsea started against Zilica without two of its key players. Frank Lampard was absent because of injury and Didier Drogba has been suspended. Despite the absence from these two key-players, the team was still able to put on a great show and the team’s backups were able to run in the big shoes the usual starters left for them.

The Blues were visiting the Slovac Stadium Pod Dubnom. The English were playing in a very-well organized fashion.

The good level of play that allowed Chelsea to win the English Premiere League last season, is fairly as good as what they are showing this season.

So far, they are a clear favorite to win their group and make it to the next stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea has won its first four games of the Premier League 2010/11. Although Zilina defended its goal bravely, the superiority of the English team was demonstrated by the rapid goal that came in the 13th minute.

In the midst of a surprising action, c striker Nicolas Anelka and defender Florent Maloudar made a nice play to later pass the ball to Michael Essien. The African midfielder crossed the local defense to send the ball into the back of the net of Martin Dubravka to sign Chelsea’s first goal.

The game continued to develop smoothly for Chelsea. After 24 minutes, the Frenchman Malouda again excelled in working with a successful pass to teammate Anelka, who left a powerful shot made it 2-0. Anelka celebrated this goal simulating that he had his hands tied.

Chelsea maintained its pace and extended its lead on the scoreboard before the end of the first half. Anelka was in charge of the 3-0 mark. The French striker kicked a ball that previously the keeper had deflected straight to his feet.

It was not until the end of the first part of the first half that Zilina was able to approach Chelsea’s own area. The team had several chances to score but the good work of Petr Cech kept the Slovaks from scoring.

Zilina’s squad began the second half by shooting into Chelsea’s goal. This did not work, and without much of a heads-up, the visitors recovered the ball and ran in search of a fourth goal. It only took 3 minutes for striker Daniel Sturridge to score the 4-0.

Slovakia’s national champion team did not put down its head and continued its attempts to score. The opportunity came in the 55th minute when Tomas Oravec took a shot on goal with very good aim.

After this incident the Blues resumed their authority and held firm until the end of the game. With this win, Chelsea is placed first in Group F of UEFA Champions League and manages to stay competitive in the most important club tournament in Europe.
